Story of the shirt:
I mean, you’ve got to hand it to Lotto, the sheer audacity of it. They rocked up at one of the big boys like a plucky non-league side on a decent cup run with nothing to lose, and just went all out, straight up changing Parma’s home colours from white to this particularly tasty blue and yellow. And not only that, they decided to stick the team’s young superstar Gianluigi Buffon in it as well, not even bothering to make a separate goalkeeper shirt design. Meanwhile, the outfield squad was frankly outrageous, boasting the likes of Juan Sebastián Verón, Hernan Crespo, Tino Asprilla, Fabio Cannavaro and Liliam Thuram. Ouch. And for these reasons alone, this shirt is and was an instant classic.
