Story of the shirt:
Having signed a young Frenchman named Zinedine Zidane from Bordeaux during the summer, Juventus started 96/97 with a veritable dream team of superstars, unsurprisingly winning Serie A in this classic Kappa kit. They had a successful season in Europe too, only falling at the final hurdle in the final against a Karl-Heinz Riedle inspired Borussia Dortmund, losing 3-1. The Old Lady wore two different versions of their home shirt during the 96/97 campaign – this specific shirt design is the Serie A version, with the Champions League design featuring the addition of the 'Minidisc' text below the Sony logo. The 10 on the back of this shirt is the number worn by top scorer that year Alessandro Del Piero.
