Story of the shirt:
Spain's home shirt for Euro 2000, this Adidas design was worn by La Roja in a match that went down in history as one of the greatest tournament matches of all time. Spain, having faltered in the group stage, needed nothing less than 3 points in their final match of the group against Yugoslavia to confirm their place in the knockout rounds. What followed was a sensational match, that, until the 94th minute, was being led 3-2 by the Yugoslavs. When Spain won a last gasp penalty on 94 – which was duly dispatched by Gaizka Mendieta, star of this particular shirt – it wasn't enough, as the other game in the group had ended 0-0, which would send the Spanish home. Deep into the 96th minute, with time for one last attack left, Pep Guardiola lofted a long ball forward that was nodded down by Urzaiz into the path of Alfonso who volleyed home to send the Spaniards into rapture – and through to the quarter finals.
