Story of the shirt:
A legendary 90s mainstay in the Spanish football calendar, the ‘Drogas No’ matches took place twice a year in various cities, bringing together various different all-star La Liga teams and celebrity sides with the aim of raising money and awareness for the fight against addiction amongst men. Think Soccer Aid with MUCH better shirts. And here’s where we come in. This shirt is the design used in the December 1994 edition, a match between a La Liga All Stars team and a Sevilla/Betis combination side, with both sides featuring celebrities, policitians and journalists alongside professional players. Jorge Valdano and one Johan Cruyff managed the La Liga All Stars Team, with goals coming from Michael Laudrup, Pep Guardiola and Predrag Mijatović. Meanwhile the unlikely Andalucian combo side SevillaBetis also netted on three occasions, with Davor Šuker, Daniel Toribio Aquino and Miquel Soler amongst the goalscorers.
This particular shirt is believe to have been match worn or prepared for whoever wore number 52 that night – anybody with more information on this please get in touch via email: info@realvintagefootball.com
