Story of the shirt:

The big news at the beginning of the 13/14 season for Barcelona – on the pitch at least – came from Brazil. His name? Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior. Arriving from Santos for a fee of €57.1m, the fresh faced 22 year old brought with him a weight of expectation even at that age, having already beaten his new team mate Lionel Messi to the Puskas Award for an incredible solo effort whilst playing for Santos in 2011. Meanwhile there were changes in the dugout too, with illness sadly forcing Tito Vilanova to resign and Argentine Gerardo Martino taking over as head coach. Despite a battling performance from Los Azulgrana, they were finally pipped to the title on the final day of the season in a thrilling showdown with eventual champions Atletico Madrid – with Diego Godin's 49th minute header enough to stop Barça from earning the 3 points they needed to claim the title. Design-wise, Nike were back at the helm and played it relatively safe, with the most striking feature being the neon yellow collar which doubles up as a Catalan flag on both the inside and the reverse. Molt bé.
