Story of the shirt:
The 11/12 season was a watershed moment for Barcelona shirt enthusiasts as it saw the introduction of the club's first-ever paid-for sponsorship deal. The supposedly charitable organisation Qatar Foundation paid a reported €170m to be featured on the front, with Unicef relegated to the lower back. On the pitch, the season itself was notable for being Pep Guardiola's last as manager. Meanwhile, star of this shirt Lionel Messi scored an unfathomable 73 goals in 60 appearances in all competitions, and unsurprisingly went on to win the FIFA Ballon d'Or award that year. Although Los Azulgrana failed to defend either the La Liga title or their Champions League trophy, they still managed to collect four pieces of silverware: the FIFA Club World Cup, the Copa del Rey, the UEFA Supercup and the Spanish Supercup.
