Story of the shirt:
These incredibly rare Barça player issue shirts – sourced from the youth team kit room – feature the professionally heat-pressed washing instructions on the inside (see photos) and the official nameset print of various different squad numbers. Not to be slept on!!
The 11/12 season was a watershed moment for Barcelona shirt enthusiasts as it saw the introduction of the club's first-ever paid-for sponsorship deal. The supposedly charitable organisation Qatar Foundation paid a reported €170m to be featured on the front, with Unicef relegated to the lower back. On the pitch, the season itself was notable for being Pep Guardiola's last as manager. Meanwhile, Lionel Messi scored an unfathomable 73 goals in 60 appearances in all competitions. Although Los Azulgrana failed to defend either the La Liga title or their Champions League trophy, they still managed to collect four pieces of silverware: the FIFA Club World Cup, the Copa del Rey, the UEFA Supercup and the Spanish Supercup.
