Story of the shirt:
This home shirt design, a daring departure from the classic blue and red stripes, was worn in the 08/09 season – Pep Guardiola's first in charge after his promotion from manager of Barcelona 'B'. Perhaps only Pep himself would've predicted what came next, as despite off-loading star players Ronaldinho and Deco,Los Blaugranawon an historic treble – the first in Spanish history. Inspired by a devastating front 3 of Messi, Eto'o and Henry, Guardiola guided Barcelona to victory in La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League. This shirt design was worn in the final of both the Copa del Rey and the Champions League, the latter being a 2-0 victory over Manchester United in Rome.
