Story of the shirt:

This classic Arsenal shirt was worn by the Gunners during the 98/99 season, Arsene Wenger's third in charge. The season was the story of another epic battle with Man United – as was customary in that era – with Arsenal very narrowly losing out on the Premier League title by one point on the final day of the season. To add insult to injury, they also were knocked out of the FA Cup by United thanks to a legendary 109th minute goal from Ryan Giggs in the semi final replay. Although this shirt was worn during the beginning of the Wenger era at Arsenal, it also signalled the end of another significant one, as it was the final Arsenal shirt to feature the legendary JVC sponsor. After thirteen years on the front of the Gunners' shirts, JVC was dropped in favour of Dreamcast the following season.
