History of the shirt:
This classic design was worn by Arsenal in the 95/96 season, the second year of its collaboration with Nike as a supplier. Continuing the line of the blue and turquoise rays of the previous year (and marking distance with the famous Adidas design of a few years ago, (the 'bruised banana’ or bruised banana in Spanish), this was the first away shirt worn by Dennis Bergkamp after his €11.25m signing from Inter Milan. Although the season ended with a mediocre outcome, in fifth position, the signing of Bergkamp and the imminent arrival of Arsene Wenger as coach led to the awakening of the London team to become contenders for the title and – in the end – 'the invincibles’.
